Remember this post? The one where I talked about J is for job hunting? Well, the hunt is over. I am now back at work, and have been for the past 3 weeks. And I can honestly say that working-mom-life is going better than I expected. This whole transition has been relatively easy. The children seem to be adjusting to me being away and I couldn't be more grateful that they are taking to the change well. They were my biggest concern about going back to work. But things are going good so far, and I am so glad.
Now its time to tell the story about where I am working. When I posted about the job hunt I was anticipating an interview with the City of Orem, which took place on July 9th. The funny thing about this job opening was that it was for the same position I held at the Orem police department before I had Liliane. I resigned from the position when Liliane was 5 months old so I could be home with her. SO, as you can tell, I was anxious to see how the interview would go because I was familiar with the job, the people, the whole bit, for nearly two years between 2007-2009. I went to the interview and apparently did well because they decided to bring me back. I went through the background check process, which included a voice stress test and drug test, which took a few weeks. But I was patient and my first day (for the second time) was on August 13th. The past 3 weeks have been awesome. I will be the first to admit that the adjustment process has just begun, though. I know it will take our entire family a few months to really settle into a good routine, but until then, we just take things one day at a time.
I really am so glad to be back doing what I do for the police department. I really enjoy the people I work with, (all the same people as before). And I find the work that I am doing very interesting. Jordan is behind me 100% with his love and support and I'm grateful for that. Plus, its really nice to be back on insurance. I can finally get in to see the doctor about different things I've been putting off for the past 3 1/2 years. All around, I have a good report to share about being back at work. I just need to remember to take things one day at a time. And I realize that if one day doesn't go as well as I hope, there is always tomorrow. Here's to life in this new chapter of our lives.
