Metal on Metal

This was all that was left of my '87 Mazda. Three years ago today I wrecked that car, with my mom in the front seat with me. To this day I still cringe when I think about the impact. I had the car a total of 2 whole weeks. My brother, Tony, found the car for me for $75 dollars. I'd never had much luck with cars, so when he found this one for $75, I was thrilled. Even if it stopped working, I didn't have much to lose. It was my first stick-shift car. The beast was brown and ugly, but it got me to where I had to be during that short two weeks.

Then, on a Thursday afternoon, that car was no more. T-boned at 65 MPH, no car could have withstood that collision. I truly believe angels were with me and my mom that day as we walked away from that accident relatively unscathed. I have a small scar on my left wrist that serves as a daily reminder of the experience. When I see the pictures of the mangled car, I am reminded of how grateful I am to still be here, to be experiencing life beyond that day. We defied tragedy that afternoon, and I am so glad to have lived to tell the tale.

So much has happened since that accident. I found and married my best friend. Just before our 2 year anniversary, we welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world. I am loving being a wife and mother. I'm loving every second I have to be living this life.
